Biography
I was born in Redwater, AB and made my home in the community of Spruce Grove, AB with my husband Brian and three sons Mike, Nathan and James. Family and friends, are my jewels. They describe me as optimistic, enthusiastic, hardworking, fun-loving and friendly. What you see is what you get - there's no façade around me. Home is wherever I am. I want my guests to feel at home with me so I portray this mood in my paintings.
Although I have no formal training, I have always taken a fearless approach to painting and many other endeavors. My inspiration comes from my ancestors who experienced hardships with fierce determination. Their passion to succeed has become mine.
We bought a cabin at Pigeon Lake in 2001, a second home where time and space allows me to explore my creativity. It's there that my love for nature, solitude and visits with friends have inspired me express my appreciation for all this more tangibly. I take our experiences and portray them in picture narratives using bright, bold colors.
Narrative art inspires the viewer to "read" into my paintings often invoking a pleasurable moment. I am truly delighted when people identify with my artistry. It is then that I know I have achieved what I set out to do ... to bring a smile, a few snickers or giggles or possibly a warm and enduring memory.
