Angelique Gillespie

Angelique Mari Gillespie updated her Visual Communication Diploma to a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. In 1998 she won a Memorial Mural competition for two young dancers killed in Golden, BC. This experience encouraged her to move from watercolour landscapes into her passionate acrylic paintings. As an Australian artist with a rich background in Engineering Drafting, Illustrative Quilting, Commercial Art and Medical illustration, Angelique uses many of these elements within her whimsical decorative work. In 2001 she received The Calgary Immigrant of Distinction Award for her work in the Arts and Culture scene in Calgary.
Angelique was a gifted art teacher, inspiring others to find their authentic self through the arts. She taught over 17 years Continuing Education Classes at ACAD; 10 years Art Programs for teachers at the Epcor Center for Performing Arts and 19 years as an artist in resident in the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) Schools. She also taught 13 years Creative Acrylic Design Level 1 and 2 at the University of Calgary. In 2014, she retired from full-time teaching to paint full time. Angelique is a member of Crowsnest Pass Public Art Gallery; Columbia Valley Artists in Invermere; Santa Rita Art League in Arizona and a signature member of The Federation of Canadian Artists in Vancouver.
