Selected Collections More than 2,000 of my original watercolors are presently included in private, public and corporate collections in 17 countries worldwide.
The Alberta Art Foundation has purchased watercolors from me in 1981, 1989 and 1994. Other public collection purchases are Canadian National Institue for the Blind, Red Deer Collage, and Augustana University Collage.
Biography Glenda Beaver grew up as Glenda Lea Ferneau on a farm in Iowa when she first wanted to be an artist. Major scholarships helped her complete her Bachelor's degree in Applied Arts plus a teaching certificate in art at Iowa State University. After teaching high school art for one year, Glenda took fine art courses at Capital University, Columbus, Ohio, for two years.
Since 1970, Glenda and her family have lived in Alberta where she has been a self-employed artist and a continuing education art teacher. She lived in Camrose until 1998, when she moved to rural Donalda, not far from Camrose.
Education Bachelor's degree in Applied Art together with after degree in art education and teaching certificat from Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa, 1960.
Post degree study in fine art and art education, including Art Specialist (K-12) Certification, Captial University, Columbus, Ohio, 1962-1964.
Numerous short courses from well known watercolourists since 1977.
Art Affiliations I am a signature member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolor and have been juried into the Alberta Society of Artists.
I am a member of the Leech Lake Art League, Walker Minnesota; Mirror Lake Art Club, Camrose; Donalda Community Art Society and the Bashaw Art Club.
Teaching Glenda has been a self-employed artist and a continuing education art teacher since 1964. She has taught watercolour workshops in Northern Minnesota and throughout Alberta plus weekly courses in and near Camrose since 1978.
"Watercolour with Glenda Beaver" is the title of a small book she wrote to accompany two instuctional videos she has produced.
Selected Exhibitions Public gallery exhibitions have been staged alomst yearly and include:
The ASA sponsored "Visions of Wellness", at the McMullen Gallery in 2002 and traveling Alberta from 2002 through 2004, sponsored by the AFA.
The North Dakota Art Galleries Association sponsored traveling show of 33 paintings touring public galleries in North Dakota from April 2001 through April 2002.
Solo exhibitions of watercolors were held at The Donalda Gallery for the arts in May-June 2001, at The Candler Art Gallery in 1991, at Misericordia Hospital, Edmonton in 1999, at Stony Plain Multicultural Hertiage Centre in 1997 and 1984, at The Minot Public Art Gallery, Minot, North Dakota in 1994, and at the Red Deer and District Museum with a TV interview in 1982.
The Art Rental and Sales Gallery of the Edmonton Art Gallery has carried my paintings continuously since 1980.
Three generations of Beaver family artists have had group shows in St.Albert, Alberta at the Art Beat Gallery and at the New York Mills Regional Cultural Centre, New York Mills, Minnestota. My husband and I, two of our children and three grandchildren exhibited 95 pieces of art in St.Albert and 130 in Minnesota.
