My love of color inspires me to paint and whenever I travel, I am frequently drawn by flowers - they intrigue me.
In my work I explore flowers. I love looking into them and discovering their souls, their personalities. From there it's finding a wide variety of emotions that they awaken in people. We all relate different emotions with various flowers. Flowers can bring a flood of memories or represent a mood, seasons, special events or holidays. Their colours trigger an emotional response in us, or perhaps an appreciation for their beauty.
Combining a strong colour element and a loose realistic style, I strive to capture the essence of what each flower strikes emotionally within me. It may be exploring them up close or in a somewhat abstract manner. Or perhaps its delving into their environment, where they exist. Preservation and documentation of Wild Flowers has often become a focus for my work. And sometimes I just want to capture their beauty. Whatever the subject, I hope the viewer finds some insight and is moved to experience their own unique feelings.

Biography
   Cindy was born and raised in Spuce Grove, Alberta. A desire to travel and experience life abroad has taken her throughout the South Pacific, Greece, Italy, Great Britain, as well as many locations in Canada and the US. Cindy resided in Sydney, Australia for two years and in 1987 Cindy and her husband returned to Spruce Grove. In recent years they have spent the summer months enjoying nature at their country retreat, where natural land protection and preservation is a focus.
    Even at an early age Cindy loved art and started oil painting classes at age 12. Finally in 1991, after several years of secretarial work, she decided to pursue art as a full-time career. Cindy is self-taught, and has supplemented her development with University of Alberta extention courses and numerous workshops.
    Cindy moved from oils to concentrate on watercolour. This medium lends itself to the loose realistic style she finds perfect to enhance her expressive and vibrant work. Recently Cindy has also been creating her work in acrylics - adding another dimension to the vibrancy and strength of the flowers and their landscapes. Whatever the medium or subject she is inspired by the endless kaleidoscope of nature's colours and beauty.
    Cindy is also very active in the arts community and currently serves as the Alberta Society of Artists Exhibition Councillor 1996-2000. She served as Membership Chair from 1994-97 with the Federation of Canadian Artists, Edmonton Branch as well as on the executive of the Allied Arts Council of Spruce Grove from 1991-94 and 1997-99. She currently teaches classes and workshops at Metro Community Collage and Artra in Edmonton, the AAC in Spruce Grove and various communities in Alberta.
