Born to create, there is no other choice in life for me except to be an artist.Through artistic and spiritual perception I depict that which already exists in the natural world.I am in as much awe of the tiniest flower as in the grandest waterfall.For the majority of my life, I have lived and painted the Canadian landscape from BC, across to Manitoba and the Yukon.I enjoy creating chalk pastel drawings of fresh cut flowers, capturing their essence before they wilt, as well as sitting in the bush painting wildflower studies in watercolor.
People and animal portraiture in watercolor, acrylic and chalk pastel is a passion to which I am returning.As a full time studio working artist, I accept portrait commissions which I compose from photographs, as my studio is too small to accommodate client sittings.
Since 1999, I have added print methods such as etching, linocut, and mono-print to my repitiore of skills.These techniques have opened the door for creating small, hand pulled print editions which are classified as originals.The time consuming creative process of etching designs into a copper plate is, for me, and endeavour of love.
As I continue to grow artistically, I find new and exciting ways to combine media, such as implementing old maps, which becomes a joint venture between myself and unknown cartographers, constructing one-of-a-kind collages incorporating multimedia, prints and painting. |
