Biography Cindy Revell received her training as a graphic designer and illustrator eventually going on to become an award winning freelance illustrator. Her work has been used on billboards, wine bottles, books, magazines, calendars, and children's books. She was nominated in 2001 for a Governor General's award for children's book illustration (Mallory and the Power Boy). Adobe, L.A. Times, Washington Post, Harvard Business Review, Better Homes and Gardens, Cornell University, Penguin Putnam, and Scholastic are just a few of the clients Cindy has worked with.
People always ask what inspires her. Everything and anything. Cindy loves the work of the Flemish painters, Melendez, Rousseau, and is inspired by folk, medieval, and eastern art.
Cindy loved the creativity of illustration and the pleasure of working with a variety of clients all over North America but wanted to push herself further and began oil painting in 2002. Three years of regular oil painting classes with Gene Prokop, workshops with Allen Myndzak, Sutton Art, and travelling to view and learn from the old masters has helped her develop as a traditional reallist.
What was only an interest quickly turned into a passion. Her traditional oil paintings are filled with rich, luminous colour and a glowing light that makes humble objects seem much more than ordinary.
Cindy is a member of Oil Painters of America, Society of Western Canadian Artists and the Art Society of Strathcona County. She is represented by Harbor House Gardens Gallery in Searsport, Maine.
